The Workshop

Where wood and silence become music. A lutherie workshop in the heart of the Quercy, amid endless meadows, century-old oak trees and the slow passage of French time.

A corner of the world that invites you to listen

There are places that seem chosen by music long before the musician arrives. Les Arques is one of them. A village of stone and silence in the Lot department of southern France, where time moves differently: measured by the flight of a red kite over the meadow, by the whisper of wind through the oaks, by the slow drip of resin in the wood waiting to become a guitar.

The workshop is set inside an old stone house of the Quercy — that honest architecture that knows the weight of centuries. Inside, wooden beams filter a golden light that exists only in these valleys. Guitars hang from the walls like half-kept promises. Woods rest on their shelves, each one holding in its grain the memory of a tree and the future of a sound.

"Building a guitar here is listening to what nature already knows: that silence and resonance are the same thing."

This is where Nicolás Rodríguez Guerra builds his guitars, one by one, by hand. There is no hurry here. There is cedar and spruce, rosewood and cypress. There are glues and chisels, planes and patience. There is Antonio de Torres watching from his portrait on the wall, reminding us that lutherie is a craft as old as the human desire to make air vibrate.

The Les Arques workshop is not just a studio — it is the argument that music needs space, stillness and roots to be born truly.
