The Pullaway system is a patented precision wood joint that lets you separate the neck from a classical or flamenco guitar in under 30 seconds. No tools. No metal. No tonal compromise.
Traditional guitars have their necks glued or bolted permanently to the body. The Pullaway system replaces the conventional joint with a precision wood dovetail connection — a self-aligning, self-locking mechanism machined and hand-fitted by luthier Nicolás Rodríguez Guerra.
The soundbox incorporates a structural recess built directly into the guitar's internal frame. The neck features a complementary coupling profile. The two elements interlock with the tolerances of fine cabinetmaking: when assembled, they are mechanically indistinguishable from a permanently joined neck — until you choose to separate them.
Align the neck coupling with the body recess. A single guided motion seats the joint fully.
The dovetail geometry locks the neck under the string tension load. No clasps, no screws, no adhesives.
Full acoustic performance. String length, neck angle and action are identical to a fixed-neck guitar.
The joint is designed for unlimited assembly cycles without measurable wear. Lifetime guarantee included.
To detach: reverse the motion. The neck slides out cleanly. The whole operation takes under 30 seconds each way.
Most guitar neck attachment systems that allow removal rely on metal hardware: bolts, screws, threaded inserts, or clamp mechanisms. These introduce significant acoustic problems:
The Pullaway system is entirely wood. The dovetail joint behaves acoustically as a continuation of the neck itself. Vibration passes through the joint without interruption, exactly as in a traditional one-piece guitar. This is why concert soloists trust it on stage.
"The Pullaway system has come to stay and change the way we conceive the guitar. This ingenious system not only defines how guitars are made and used — it brings a series of practical benefits that transform the guitarist's experience."
— Mauricio Díaz Álvarez, Concert Guitarist · Professor, Conservatory of Vannes, France"Most notably, this detachable system does not compromise the instrument's sound quality in any way, nor does it create any intonation issues. I recommend it unreservedly."
— Jaume Torrent, Guitarist · Academic, Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi"The Pullaway system is a great relief when travelling, especially on planes. It fits easily in the overhead locker. Once at my destination, assembly is very straightforward."
— Jeff Wooldridge, Multi-instrumentalist"Nicolás Rodríguez Guerra's invention is revolutionary. I'm a musician in a Cirque du Soleil show — I change city every two months. It is wonderful to carry my detachable guitar in a backpack, from one side of the world to the other."
— Quim Ramos, Musician, Cirque du SoleilNicolás evaluates your classical or flamenco guitar and, if it qualifies structurally, installs the Pullaway joint. You keep your familiar instrument with all its tonal character — now with a removable neck and a lifetime guarantee on the joint system.
Have a guitar built from scratch with the Pullaway system integrated into its design. You choose the tonewoods, scale length, string spacing, and finish. Nicolás builds it over 1–2 months in his French workshop.
The Pullaway system uses a precision wood dovetail joint. The neck slides into a structural recess in the soundbox and locks via wood-on-wood contact under string tension. No tools, no metal hardware. To remove: slide the neck out. Assembly in under 30 seconds each way.
No. The all-wood joint achieves structural and acoustic continuity identical to a fixed neck. Concert soloists including conservatory professors confirm no audible difference in tone, sustain, or intonation.
Most can, but each is evaluated individually. Send photos and construction details to Nicolás for a free remote assessment. Guitars with non-standard internal construction or structural damage may not qualify.
Yes. The self-aligning joint reproduces the same string length and neck angle every time. Minor fine-tuning of the strings is typical; the neck position itself is consistent across thousands of cycles.
NRG Luthier guarantees the Pullaway joint for the lifetime of the instrument — both for transformations and new builds. If the joint develops any issue directly attributable to the system, Nicolás resolves it at no cost.
